Services for Art Evans, 64, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home's Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Bill Flemming officiating.

Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

He died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001.

He married Benni Ellen Dunn on Nov. 28, 1958, in Lubbock. He was a theater major at Texas Tech. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist. He started in radio in 1960 working with KLBK. He worked in television at KCBD.

He became owner and operator of Billy Jo's Dance Studio in 1964. He founded Art's International and Art's Theatrical Supply in 1971, selling dance wear and specialty fabrics. He became a wholesaler and sold his fabrics to MGM, Disney World and other entertainment venues. His fabrics were used in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

He was involved in the Lubbock Community Theater and directed its Teenage Summer Workshop.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bethany Tolley of Lubbock; a brother, Sam of Georgetown; a sister, Kay Hobbs of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
